Uttarakhand Mandates Registration for Char Dham Yatra

Amidst a surge in pilgrim numbers, the Uttarakhand government has implemented mandatory registration for devotees undertaking the Char Dham Yatra.

Senior Police Officer Arpan Yaduvanshi emphasized the necessity for devotees visiting Gangotri and Yamunotri to register beforehand and advised against travel plans before registration completion, as stated in a post on X.

Chief Secretary Radha Raturi announced that a letter will be dispatched to all states, clarifying that participation in the pilgrimage requires prior registration, without which devotees will not be permitted.

To enforce this measure, police teams will set up checkpoints along the Yatra route, barring vehicles without registration from entry, Radha Raturi further informed.

Additionally, mobile phone usage within 200 meters of the sacred sites is prohibited, with stringent actions promised against individuals sharing misleading content, including videos or reels related to the yatra.
