Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – April 12, 2024 OnePlus, a popular smartphone brand known for its flagship killers, is facing a potential setback in the Indian market. Smartphone retailers in several Indian states have threatened to stop selling OnePlus devices due to a number of grievances, including “derogatory pricing” and delayed payments.
The South Indian Organised Retailers Association (ORA), representing over 4,500 member stores, has been vocal about the issues. They claim that selling OnePlus products has become difficult due to persistently low profit margins, making it challenging to sustain their businesses amidst rising operational and financial costs.
Sridhar TS, president of ORA, highlighted the unresolved problems they have faced for the past year. In a statement, he mentioned, “Derogatory pricing, delayed settlements, and product delays due to lack of commitments” as key reasons for the potential boycott.
This move could significantly impact OnePlus’ sales in India, a crucial market for the company. The brand has traditionally enjoyed strong support from offline retailers, who play a major role in smartphone distribution across the country.
OnePlus has yet to respond publicly to the retailers’ threats. It remains to be seen how the company will address these concerns and prevent a potential sales disruption.
